19/05/2020You can get to Øksnes Vestbygd by express boat from Myre and Skjellfjord. A strongly recommended round trip if you want to experience some of our coastal culture up close.

19/05/2022The journey around Fem Fiskevær is a very special experience in itself, and can be done in many different ways.

19/05/2022The trip through the fishing villages is a journey in time, where you enjoy the tranquility and the close contact with the locals. Set aside at least 2 days and let yourself be excited by the people, the stories and the nature.

19/05/2022A culinary journey in Fem Fiskevær of course offers a lot of fish! Or "fesk" as we say here in the north. Here you get the traditional dishes as they have been made for generations, served according to the seasons - Mølja (fresh cod with liver and roe), fried cod tongues with raw vegetables, boknafisk (semi-dry cod) with bacon, pea puree and carrot. Fish soup based on today's catch or if you are lucky, homemade fish cakes!

19/05/2022At your own pace, you choose suitable stages for the cycle tour. Stop along the way for a picnic or at the nearest cafe or restaurant for a taste of Vesterålen.

19/05/2022Fem Fiskevær is also a good starting point to see the midnight sun. The fishing villages are located along the coast and have an open view to the west within a short radius. Here you will see that in the summer months the sun does not go below the horizon. In mid-May and early August you can see the sun dipping into the sea, then rising again in a few minutes. Magical!

18/06/2014Dronningruta (The Queen’s Route) is a marked hiking trail between the historical fisherman’s villages Nyksund and Stø in the Vesterålen archipelago. The route is a round trip which winds its way along the coastline, the white sand beach Skipssanden, and over mountain tops 400 meters above sea level with an incredible view of the Atlantic ocean.
