Midnight sun experiences
Fem Fiskevær is also a good starting point to see the midnight sun. The fishing villages are located along the coast and have an open view to the west within a short radius. Here you will see that in the summer months the sun does not go below the horizon. In mid-May and early August you can see the sun dipping into the sea, then rising again in a few minutes. Magical!
Headwind in all directions, raining cats and dogs, cold and summer mittens on in June. Then, suddenly she's there, the Midnight Sun.
The northern Norwegian summer can be impulsive, here you just have to enjoy the moments. Forget going to bed, forget fussy weekdays, forget time and place. Now the midnight sun is here! Out to enjoy, feel that the body comes to life and that a warm house wall becomes your best friend. Or a mountain top, a beach or on the sea. Now we are going to enjoy ourselves! Stockfish, something good to drink and seagull eggs, the northern Norwegian people's soul is again thawed.
In and around Fem Fiskevær you can see the midnight sun from out on the sea or on short and longer mountain hikes in the area. Dronningruten offers a fantastic view both from the mountains and along the shore line. From the sea you can "sail into the midnight sun", only interrupted by seagulls' and, if you are lucky, breathing and splashing from small whales. In the mountains, just bring good food and beverage, sit down on a peak and enjoy the silence of nature and the panoramic view as the sun wanders over the midnight sky. Even the air, the smells and the wildlife change character under the midnight sun.
