Åsand
A moderate and pleasant trip on the fjord at Åsand in Eidet, Bø. The best place to launch your kayak is probably from the boat launch at Åsand Wharf.
It is up to you which side of the fjord you choose for kayaking, but in the late evening, you will get more sun on the southern side of the fjord. If you have the time and inclination, we recommend taking a detour to Husvågen and Spjelkvågen on the southern side.
Be cautious in the event of rough water through the narrow sound between Åsanden and Husøya to Åsand Sound, especially if the wind is south-westerly.
The perfect destination for this trip is Åsand Beach, one of the finest beaches in the entire area. Read more about Åsand Beach here.
Arctic Sea Kayak Race
19–25 July 2020 is the period during which the annual kayak festival will be arranged this year!
During the festival, trips are arranged for both the experienced kayakers and the less experienced. Courses will be held, and Friday, the entire day is devoted to competition. There is also a “rest day” during the festival, a day set aside for various activities on land. They have boats for hire, both single and double kayaks.

Tips and Good Advice
Remember that the temperature in the sea is cold even in the middle of summer in the northern areas of Norway. We recommend that you bring a dry suit outfit, no matter what time of year you go kayaking! Remember, too, that mobile phone coverage is extremely variable in the area, so it is a good idea to let someone know where you plan to go or where you are in the area.
