How to get to Sortland
Airplane
The closest arrival is at the STOL-airport at Skagen (20 min drive from Sortland). There is also an airport at Andenes (1.5 hours’ drive).
Otherwise, you can fly to the regional airport, Harstad/Narvik Lufthavn Evenes (1.5-2 hours’ drive), where you will find more departures and arrivals. From here you can take the bus to Sortland that corresponds with your flight.
Coastal Express
The Coastal Express (Norwegian: Hurtigruta) docks in Vesterålen two times a day in Risøyhamn, Sortland and Stokmarknes. In Sortland, the northbound ship arrives at 03.00 and the southbound at 12.30. You find more information regarding timetables and prices on the Hurtigruten website.
Car
Sortland is the geographical centre of Vesterålen, which makes it the hub of the region. It is only a short drive to the other municipality centres. To Stokmarknes it takes about 30 minutes, to Myre 40 minutes, to Straume 1 hour and to Andenes 1.5 hours.
Bus and Taxi
