Lighthouse in Vesterålen
Throughout history there has been more than 200 manned light houses in Norway. In Vesterålen we have three lighthouses and two of them are possible to visit.
Andenes fyr
(Andenes lighthouse) is a coastal lighthouse located at the northern end of the island of Andøya, in the village of Andenes. It was established in 1859, automated in 1978 and listed as a protected site in 1999. The lighthouse is managed by the nearby Whalecentre, which offers guided tours during the summer season.
Littleisland Lighthouse
Litløy Fyr - Littleisland Lighthouse is the western most point you can reach in Vesterålen. The lighthouse is standing alone on a small island in the middle of the open sea. The lighthouse owner, Ellen Marie and her partner, Frode, are living there all year round and they are ready to receive guests all seasons. There is a small and exclusive guest section in the former lighthouse keepers' residence, where you can stay overnight. You can also choose to stay in the exclusive lighthouse tower suite.
Some more information about visiting the island
Anda fyr
Anda Lighthouse is located on the little island Anda in Øksnes municipality. It was built in the years 1931-33. Anda is an important nesting area for puffins, kittiwakes, auks, European shags, herring gulls and blaxk-backed gulls. You buy guided tours to the island, but because it is a nature reserve you can not go ashore to Anda.
