Transport
How do you get to Andøya?
Airplane
The closest arrival is at Andenes Airport approximately 5 minutes’ drive from the centre of Andenes. There is also a STOL-airport at Skagen (2 hours’ drive from Andenes).
Otherwise, you can fly to the regional airport, Harstad/Narvik Lufthavn Evenes (3-3,5 hours’ drive), where you will find more departures and arrivals. From here you can take the bus to Sortland that corresponds with your flight.
Coastal Express
The Coastal Express (Norwegian: Hurtigruta) docks in Vesterålen two times a day in Risøyhamn Sortland and Stokmarknes. In Risøyhamn, the northbound ship arrives at 04.45 and the southbound at 10.45. Here you can find more information regarding timetables and prices.
Ferry
In the summer months, there is usually a ferry between Andenes and Gryllefjord on Senja. Please check this in advance.
Car
To go from the centre of Andenes to the other Municipalities, going by car is a good alternative. You can find rental cars at AVIS at the airport. A drive to Sortland takes about 1.5 hours, 2 hours to Stokmarknes, 2 hours and 15 minutes to Myre and 2.5 hours to Straume.
