Vesterålen has many wonderful attractions and a sensational landscape with unforgettable scenery and views. There are many fascinating mountain ranges, deep fjords, beaches of pure-white sand and extensive woodland areas to enjoy and behold. Out beyond the islands of Vesterålen, you find yourself out on the open seas. Both Trollfjord in Rafsundet and the old fishing village Nyksund, in Øksnes, are magical experiences well worth a visit.

Sami Culture in Vesterålen
2014-06-20 13:56The Sami people are the only European people classified as indigenous and used to be considered a nomadic people. Today they live above the Arctic Circle in Russa, Finnish Laplap, Swedish Lapland and Northern Norway, with a combined population of about 70 000. Most of these reside in Norway.
