Long distance buses

There are daily buses from larger cities in Northern-Norway to Sortland, the largest town in Vesterålen. Information about bus routes, travel times and prices can be found at reisnordland.no. Just search for the route you want information on in the searchbar. Some relevant routes may be: Bodø – Sortland via Narvik og Fauske, Harstad – Sortland, Tromsø –Sortland, Svolvær - Sortland.

Local buses

If you travel by bus into Sortland from other cities in Northern Norway you will most likely have to change buses at the bus station to get further into the region. Travelling on local buses may require some planning so make sure to read the routes and schedules with care. Information about local bus routes can be found at reisnordland.no

There are no direct trains to Vesterålen, but if you prefer travelling by train you can go from the south of Norway to Bodø with NSB (www.nsb.no) or from Kiruna (Sweden) to Narvik (Norway) with SJ (www.sj.se). From Bodø and Narvik you can travel by bus to Vesterålen.
